The Decline of Democracy

The world today is in chaos and people are confused as to how they're going to live from one day to the next. Wars are taking place all over the world and the death tolls are rising on a hourly basis. The fight for freedom is resulting in many countries taking measures to implement stricter laws that are seen as being against the people. Overall the consensus is that many people want change and want their leaders to make it better for them. But, the downside to that is the people are the ones that will suffer as the governments take drastic measures to ensure security for their people. What is the solution? There is no one answer that will make all the worlds ills be solved. From the aspect of people across the globe, the world is radically changing.
Freedom has always come with a price, and a heavy one at that. There are many more people in the world that want freedom but not all of them have the methods by which to challenge their governments to change. The United States of America and it's people are no longer taking freedom for granted. The democracy that we live in is still the best in the world, and model for others to follow. But, we have become so arrogant, so selfish, that we think that all of our allies are with us when it comes to giving their people the freedom they desire. Our occupation of countries has proven that we do not have all the answers, and that situations in the various countries we invade stem only from our short-sighted belief that those people want freedom and democracy as well. The methods by which they achieve what they believe is right for them is not necessarily the same methods we would use or have used to create that same freedom and democracy for out people.
We have set up 'puppet governments' and have let the people of those nations do what they thought was right to implement their interpretation of freedom. The effects of our involvement in those matters have created devastating effects for those countries. We have been branded as being the 'world police' and invading non-threatening countries under false pretenses. It is out of our arrogance and lack of intelligence that we have damaged our reputation with others potentially useful allies.
Democracy and freedom work on the basis of people coming together for a common goal. How that goal is met, and what methods are used, are strictly up to the individual citizens of that nation. We have fought for over Two Hundred years to create a nation of people that cherish freedom and democracy. But, in the past several decades, our brand of democracy is unraveling and is severely frayed. We are seen as tyrants and infidels in the eyes of some. And, the question has to be asked, "What will happen when we are attacked again?" Will this country fall to the enemy because of an apathetic heart? Has this country given all it's got to support its people? What have we done to overcome the complacency of this free democratic society? If we don't stand for something, for the heartfelt belief in freedom and democracy, we will fall for anything. We cannot stand by and watch The Decline of Democracy.
